It's finally the time of year I get to do absolutely nothing and enjoy it. No bike, just laziness.
Really that isn’t the truth. I have filled out 2 college applications in the past 24 hours and will possibly do some more... Fun. I applied to California State in San Luis Obispo and I'm almost praying to get some scholarship money. I would be ecstatic to go to school there, but something about todays economy tells me that scholarship dollars will be hard to come by. University of Washington and Missouri S ant T are more realistic choices.
I have tried to isolate myself form the sport without much success so far this week. I haven’t logged on to velonews or cyclingnews multiple times a day this week, but I'm still thinking about training and the team next year. Oh well, I tried. For he first time I won't have to worry about trying to get to the gym or ride on Thanksgiving Day. Not that I don't enjoy it, but it makes the day more laid back and fattening.
My cross season has most likely come to an end. I did several races but it is just to hard to mix base miles and cross racing, it's like oil and water. I may do some racing in December, but I'm not sure yet. Due to my lack of presence in cross I'm selling my tubular Challenge Grifos. They are on STL biking. If you stumble across anyone who is looking for some, please let them know. I figured there was more of a market for them, but apparently not.
As you can see, my blog has changed quite a bit. It is still a work in progress and I am working up to finishing it. If something doesn't seem to work right, please let me know. I modified a pre-made template, so its not all by me, just a few changes like the nav bar at the top. Thats it for now, thanks for reading.
Did I mention base miles? Thats been whats happening lately. This week seems to have been the first real week of fall, and it has driven inside to the trainer. Something about 45 degree weather just doesn't sound appealing. Once I get used to it I'll ride out more but for now I'll wuss out and listen to music, watch t.v. and ride the trainer. My mentality towards riding the trainer is the more distracted you become or the more you zone out on a long indoor ride the faster it goes. Its been working quite nicely for the moment.
Sedalia-
The weekend before labor day was the sedalia weekend. I was stoked for the twilight crit, but not for the road race. The course was different from previous years, which I didn't like at first. It was flat and full of potholes. The race started and I went off the front with Jenson and several other strong guys. I thought we would stay off, (Jenson has lapped the field for the past 2 years at this race)but we got caught only a quarter of the way into the race. I continued to race aggressively until all I could do was hang on in the back. Not the wisest choice, but it felt good to be riding on decent form again. Post race I decided not to do the road race.
